Ever since that volcano with the weird name (Eyjafjallajokull, if you must) erupted, video conferencing companies (RADVISION included) have stepped up their efforts in saying that you can use their solutions instead of flying. I hate that claim. We’ve used it as an argument for going green, as an argument for birdflu and swineflu – you get the idea. It’s as if our industry is driven by fear and catastrophes. But it really isn’t. There’s real value in visual communications.

It seems like a fight has started over the communication device on our desktops. Not the fight over voice – that one has already been fought and won time and again by the ubiquitous desktop phone, with some signs of the mobile handset providing any serious competition to its reign.
