Carnival of The Mobilists #220: Israeli Independence Day

I don’t have much luck with Carnival of the Mobilists hosting. Whenever I volunteer for the task, there’s s national holiday, and I end up writing it while on vacation. So no wonder that this time it’s right up the alley of Independence day here in Israel. And what’s better to open an independence party with than the open of them all – Apple. Apple Carl Martin from Mobsessed does a good analysis (read more...)

I am Back on the Carnival of the Mobilists

It’s been a while but I am back to publishing some of the posts on the Carnival of the Mobilists. The last two carnivals were really packed full with useful links and posts, so I suggest you read them: mobiThinking hosted carnival #214 Mobiaffiliates hosted carnival #215 I’ve got a post of my own published on each, and I must say that the variety of subjects covered in these two is quite impressive – and interesting. My own suggestion? Head on and see if there’s anything there to your liking if you are interested in the mobile industry.

Carnivals: Two For the Price of One

Here’s something new: I have two carnivals that I joined this week: the Carnival of the Mobilists and the VoIP Blog Carnival. Carnival of the Mobilists This week, the Carnival of the Mobilists is being hosted by Chetan Sharma on Always On Real-Time Access. There’s great content there, especially around real-time data and social networks. So don’t wait – head on to the carnival! You’ll find my own post on Mobile VoIP #FAIL there as well. VoIP Blog Carnival This is something new that Alan Lindsay has initiated and I do want to see it grow. In a way, it would let us VoIP bloggers get to know each other better and collaborate a bit when it makes sense. Alan is making a point in having a theme for each such carnival and the first one was around “introductions“. It’s why I’ve contributed my non-top 50 VoIP blogs post to it. The next carnival theme will be about “Spooks and Ghosts”, and as usual, I already have “just the post” readily available for this…

My 50+ non-Top VoIP Blogs

In the past several weeks a few “top VoIP blogs” lists were posted elsewhere. I’ve decided it is time for me to come up with my own list, but of a different kind: instead of top VoIP blogs, I’d simply list the VoIP related blogs that I am actually reading – those that are “my eyes and ears” in the VoIP world. You can regard my list as my personal blogroll, only I am not using any “link exchange” program (read more...)

Carnival of the Mobilists #194

Hi everyone for another new and interesting week. This time the carnival is again in Israel, where we are currently enjoying our Sukkot holyday. Before I start off with the interesting set of posts on our carnival, I want to invite you on behalf of WIP Jam to their UnPanel event on October 8 at CTIA in San Diego. They’ve got a day chocked full with great speakers – one of them is Lauren Thorpe, Senior Director, Developer Relations, Qualcomm (read more...)

Carnival of the Mobilists (#193) @ Volker on Mobile

This week, the Carnival of the Mobilists is being hosted, for the first time, by Volker Hirsch on his blog Volker on Mobile. There’s a nice set of posts there that might interest you and some interesting statistics that I know I will be using in my own future posts. So don’t wait – head on to the carnival! Administration… Next week, the carnival will be hosted here, on my own humble blog. I’m planning on joining a new VoIP carnival as well, at least once in a while, which is being established by Alan Lindsay. If you’re a VoIP blogger – you might want to join us as well.

VoIP from around the net: September 24, 2009

Andy Abramson has written a bunch of great posts lately – each one a gem on its own. While I’d recommend most of his posts, I wanted to direct you to his new initiative, the VoipWatch Report podcast. Michael Graves explains why G.722, an inferior wideband codec, is winning the HD Voice “codec war” – a classic case where business decisions win over technology. Alec Saunders takes a jab at the current ecosystem of Skype for developers – an interesting read. Michael Mace is asking if Apple is too powerful – yes it is. David Byrd from SIP and Serve by a Foodie explains about HD Voice – great for beginners who want to know the HD Voice basics.

Made it to the Top

There is something about “top” list posts that I usually don’t like – at least as a writer; at least when it comes to “top blogs”. How can you compare different writers and say who makes it to the top and who doesn’t? That said, I have to admit that being on a “top blogs” list is always flattering. So while I didn’t make it to The Seamless Enterprise’s “top” 7 VoIP blogs to watch, I did made it to Alan Lindsay’s (from CompareBusinessProduct.com) top 33 VoIP blogs: VoIP Survivor – IMS and VoIP industry insights – a Radvision blog – covers a good range of VoIP industry issues in some depth I was very flattered, although a bit puzzled by the choice of words. “In some depth”? I guess I have something to improve, and need to try a bit harder from now on… J The best thing, though, isn’t being on the list, but being there alongside so many of the blogs on my reading list, not to mention finding a few that I have somehow missed until now. I guess this list was CompareBusinessProduct.com’s way of saying “hello world!” to the rest of the “VoIP bloggers” out there. Well, Alan Lindsay, it worked! I’ll be reading your blog from now on as well.

Going Federal with VoIP: Read All About It

This is just a quick note: a few days ago, we published the August issue of our Realize VoIP newsletter. This time, it’s focused on the use of VoIP in emergency and first response communication networks. I’d like to focus your attention to 3 specific parts of this newsletter, which I believe might be useful for you: 1. Seminars We’re now providing face-to-face seminars to companies who wish to know more about VoIP and it’s implementations in various federal communication (read more...)
