Made it to the Top

September 7th, 2009

There is something about “top” list posts that I usually don’t like – at least as a writer; at least when it comes to “top blogs”. How can you compare different writers and say who makes it to the top and who doesn’t? That said, I have to admit that being on a “top blogs” list is always flattering.

So while I didn’t make it to The Seamless Enterprise’s “top” 7 VoIP blogs to watch, I did made it to Alan Lindsay’s (from CompareBusinessProduct.com) top 33 VoIP blogs:

VoIP Survivor – IMS and VoIP industry insights – a Radvision blog – covers a good range of VoIP industry issues in some depth

I was very flattered, although a bit puzzled by the choice of words. “In some depth”? I guess I have something to improve, and need to try a bit harder from now on… J

The best thing, though, isn’t being on the list, but being there alongside so many of the blogs on my reading list, not to mention finding a few that I have somehow missed until now.

I guess this list was CompareBusinessProduct.com’s way of saying “hello world!” to the rest of the “VoIP bloggers” out there. Well, Alan Lindsay, it worked! I’ll be reading your blog from now on as well.

You probably know this but… “top” lists are generally part of an effective SEO/Back link strategy. Often times they are put together so that the entry is noticed by the bloggers on the list who then post about how they’ve made the list and provide a link back to the original content.

Your reply post is proof that this strategy works.

    Cheers,

    Mike,
    Well said!
While your words ring true, I still believe that this specific list has merit (and not only because I am on it). The quality of the other blogs there is high and people who are interested in VoIP can use that list as a starting point for their reading list.
Oh, and the fact that this technique works doesn’t mean I should ignore it :-)

Agreed! Most do… I’ll keep my eyes open for your “top” list which will hopefully include Michael Graves.
