I guess it’s about time I join the rest of the online world and start tweeting.
More than a year after I first heard of Twitter (and thought it was a pure waste of time), I decided to try it out; and was happy with it in the couple of months since I started.
For those of you who are not familiar with it, twitter is a micro-blogging service that allows users to send messages of up to 140 characters to followers (people who decide to follow them). The service has grown quite considerably, which is usually attributed to its open APIs and allowing third parties connect to it and add value on top of the service.
What will you be able to find on my twitter account?
- Shameless self promotion. Links to my published posts – those that are published here, as well as those on my TMCnet Talking Video blog; and once in a while links to guest posts I do elsewhere (This might be a good time to say that I am open to guest posting on your blog, if you have one).
- Things I find interesting elsewhere. There are things that might not fit into a full blog post, but still catch my attention. Twitter also allows me to share links in real-time, if I actually remember I that have a Twitter account while reading them.
- Mundane daily stuff. As twitter is a social network, I will definitely be complaining and whining about mundane issues I bump into during the day. Mind you – I’ll try keeping these to the bare minimum.
Follow me
If you have a twitter account, just follow me at @tsahil.
While you’re at it, I’d like to suggest some other great twitterers out there that I find really interesting:
- @sageeb. Sagee, my colleague here at RADVISION writing the Video Over Enterprise blog.
- @GarrettSmith. Garrett, a fellow blogger who I recommend reading and following. His insights are usually original and spot on.
- @filos. Luca is another fellow blogger who writes a lot about VoIP and social media. He is also one of those who prefer the BlackBerry over the iPhone, and for good reasons – it is more suitable for his needs.
- @andyabramson is another one of the known bloggers in VoIP. I link a lot to his blog posts here (as I do to Garrett and Luca).
- @danyork is someone I don’t really remember starting to follow, but I guess it just made sense. He’s how I first learned about the availability of Skype’s new SILK codec.
- @Neal_Gilbert tweets a lot about VoIP for enterprises. Recommended if you’re on the buyer side of the equation.
- @Vidtel. It’s no secret that I like talking about this company – it’s time they give me a demo unit
Anyway, Mariette is handling their account on twitter. Not a lot of traffic there yet, but it would be nice to see more of her updates. - @tomkeating. I started following Tom after finding out that he has a twitter account – I’ve been reading him for a while over at TMCnet, where I have a blog as well.
- @mobilesociety. Martin is a good friend of mine, which I have never actually seen. We chat through the comment section in our blogs, but I do feel like I know him. For those interested in mobile – follow him as well.
- @pgolding. Paul is a great read if you’re dealing with mobile, which is part of what I do here. Highly recommended.
- @mobilenthusiast. Holly is another one of those must follow gals in mobile. Great stuff there. She also likes reminding us each week to place our posts to the Carnival of the Mobilists.
