Meet me at TVoDSL 2008
This year I am going to attend TVoDSL in Paris. I am going to take part at their conference program on merging video conferencing technology with IPTV. Simply put - VoIP+IPTV. For me, this step is as logical as merging VoIP or IMS with social media. Video as a mediator between people is still at its birth. The technology is here to some extent - we have 3G phones capable of handling videotelephony, we can use Skype or other internet based applications to dial video calls, and at work - I can dial anywhere in the world and talk to anyone and use video - even for large conferences.
How about taking video one step further and placing it in the living room? This can be achieved by adding the right ingredients into set top boxes (software and hardware ones) and back it up by operators providing the service to it.
I believe that this is what will happen in the future and there are good signs that operators are actively looking for such a solution with chipset vendors showing some initial demonstrations of the technology.
I am going to introduce this concept during TVoDSL.

11.30 IPTV and Interactive Live Person-to-Person Video
How to transform the IP STB into a true, interactive and rich communication center - the household’s communication epicenter. This can be achieved by adding video conferencing technologies to the IP STB itself, which enables a variety of new ways to use the IP STB.
Feel free to send me an email to tsahil@radvision.com if you want to meet there.
