Everything You Wanted In A Room System (But Didn’t Know To Ask)

Two months ago I announced here that we have completed the puzzle for our visual communications offering to the enterprise market through the acquisition of intellectual assets from Aethra, (a famous high-end room systems vendor and a long time RADVISION partner). I explained how these assets can complete the end-to-end solution that RADVISION now offers, and how we will now be able to easily deploy new and exciting technologies through our solution. However I wasn’t able back then to discuss (read more...)

2010 Predictions: My Educated Guess

“There are many methods for predicting the future. For example, you can read horoscopes, tea leaves, tarot cards or crystal balls. Collectively these methods are known as “nutty”. Or you can put well-researched facts into sophisticated computer models, more commonly referred to as “a complete waste of time” - Scott Adams As 2010 begins, it’s predictions time again, when everyone who’s writing anywhere must give their predictions for the up-coming year. I will not disclose here my methods for predicting (read more...)

Heil The New xVC Heir: HVC

[I've been asked often, during the past two years, what's next on the video coding front. Some people are asking about H.265, the natural heir of the current king H.264; others are just wondering where we're going. To be honest, even for a video coding guy keeping up with the latest trends and turns in the video coding world is a complicated task. But the "next generation" of video coding is a very interesting topic, not to mention very relevant (read more...)

No “One Internet”, No One Video Conferencing Experience

Tsahi recently wrote a guest post over at NoJitter (RESPECT!) talking about Net Neutrality and the “One Internet”. Tsahi was talking about the Internet and Internet services in general, and I want to talk about Video Conferencing. Here’s what Tsahi wrote: There are two areas where net neutrality falls apart and causes real problems for users: Access to the Internet. Services over the Internet. It doesn’t take an expert to see that these are the same problems (read more...)

Breaking The Boundaries of Video Conferencing

[Last month RADVISION participated in the Wainhouse Research Collaboration Futures Summit in Berlin. Apart from breaking our big news about SVC at the summit, RADVISION shared with the audience our view  on the boundaries of video conferencing, and how we can overcome them through future technologies and solutions. Moshe Machline, our VP of Corporate Marketing, gave such a wonderful presentation, I just had to bring him on for a guest post, to share his ideas with you] Video conferencing was (read more...)

A Couple Of Useful Posts For The New Year

Tsahi, chief editor for the RADVISION blogs, is always asking us for “useful posts”. A “useful post”, according to Tsahi, is a post that you will bookmark and return to, that will serve as a guide, and that will remains relevant. I hope I’ve already written one or two useful posts by now, but just in case you are looking for more, here are a couple which were not written by me, but go along very well with what I (read more...)

Five Books You MUST Read If You Want to REALLY Know Your Way Around Video

This blog is usually all about innovation, revolution and the future, but there’s one thing that stuck with me and hasn’t changed since the days I was a kid: Books. One may wonder if in this time and age books are still relevant, and I must admit that I am a sucker for them. It may seem like a wonder how this “old” medium survived, but a “soft” version of a book would never compare to the “hard” version of (read more...)
